Jane's Walk: Creative Collingwood

Creative Collingwood

This walk begins by setting the historical context, covering both Fitzroy and Collingwood. The significant differences and similarities between them will soon come to light and will provide a framework for discussion. Join a walking conversation that covers just three streets and includes visits to fifteen creative industries, all of which demonstrate passion, courage and initiative. The walk will highlight tough industrial beginnings, the qualities of the urban fabric, and contemporary expression within it.

Meeting place: The Birmingham Hotel, on the corner of Johnston and Smith Streets, Fitzroy

Walk leader: Judy Stanton, an inner Melbourne tour guide, walks to discover. Always looking for a story or an intriguing new business, Judy likes to understand what makes it happen.

Jane’s Walk

Jane's Walk sets out to inspire urban literacy and a community-based approach to city building. Citizen-led walking tours under the Jane's Walk banner make space for anyone to observe, reflect, question and collectively reimagine the places where they live, work and play. The walks create the space for people to learn about aspects of their city, connect with strangers and share ideas. They highlight some of the challenges faced in major cities such as development, climate extremes and pressures on green space and also explore how people positively influence and change the cities they love.
