Special tours and events for 2012

Alongside the 100 buildings, there are also several fascinating tours happening as part of this year’s Open House Melbourne weekend.

To sign up for the tours listed below you will need to check in from 9.30am on Saturday or Sunday at the OHM Info hub, outside Melbourne Town Hall.

 

City of Melbourne Lightning Tours

Ian Dryden, Melbourne City Design Leader, takes you through Melbourne under the cover of darkness on the Lighting Tour of Melbourne. See the city like never before, and learn how Ian controls the lights with the touch of an iPhone app.

Saturday and Sunday from 5.30pm

 

Melbourne Bike Share Tour

Explore the Docklands on two wheels with the Melbourne Bike Share Tour. Your guide will point out many cultural, architectural and historic buildings along the way. Sign up on the day, collect a helmet and a hop on a blue bike! Supported by RACV and City of Melbourne.

3 tours a day.

Soundwalks by the Australian Forum for Acoustic Ecology

Take a step back from the bustling city for a unique tour – in silence. The Soundwalks tour is an intimate journey, highlighting the delicate and quiet sounds of Melbourne that usually go unnoticed. Discover a hidden world beneath the industrial landscape. 

2 tours a day.

Barchitecture Tour

Mark Healy of Six degrees Architecture, is leading a journey through some of Melbourne’s hottest  hospitality spots. Join Mark as your ‘crawl’ your way through doors unknown.

This tour is extremely limited and will run from 4pm to 5pm, on Saturday the 28th of July. Tickets from the OHM info Hub on Saturday morning.

It's a tour about the architectural design of bars by Six Degrees, 4 different bars with very different approaches. 

 

Treasury Reserve Walking Tour

The checkin and departure for this tour is from 1 Treasury Place. It then takes in the foyer to view an architectural model of the entire precinct. From here, you will head to the foyer of 2 Treasury Place to the magnificent staircase and stained glass windows. The tour will continue around the precinct, taking in the facades of key buildings. You will also see the open atrium behind the foyer of 41 St Andrew's Place. The walk will finish back at 1 Treasury Place.

Tours leave every 30 minutes.
