Jane’s Walk — North Wharf: Between the Bridges

After decades of relative hibernation, North Wharf between Spencer St and Charles Grimes Bridge is about to undergo a profound makeover. The places chosen for exploration in this Jane’s Walk with Port Places Janet Bolitho will generate discussion about globalisation and localisation, the interpretation of history in the present, our relationship with the Yarra River and the role of the seafarer today.

About Jane’s Walks
Jane’s Walks are free citizen led walks held around the world in memory of influential urban activist and writer, Jane Jacobs. If you want to know a place, she said, you’ve got to get out and walk. COVID-19 has shaken our assumptions about our beloved city to the core. Jane Jacobs would have wanted us to talk about shaping the post COVID city.

About your host Janet Bolitho
Janet Bolitho curates the Port Places project – exploring and documenting the changing places of the lower Yarra – Fishermans Bend, Port Melbourne and the Port of Melbourne. She is active with the Port Melbourne Historical and Preservation Society, Westage Biodiversity: Bili Nursery & Landcare and the Yarra Riverkeeper Association. Janet was appointed to the Fishermans Bend Development Board in August 2018.
