“Shall we ever meet again?”

A conversation with Dr. Jonathan Daly on the impact of COVID-19 on cities as places of encounter.

Dr Jonathan Daly (pictured right) is an urbanist who explores the relationship between people and the built environment. He has more than twenty years international experience working across urban design, architecture and planning. He holds a PhD in urban design from the University of Melbourne in which he examined the agency of built form to enable and constrain intercultural encounter. In 2013 he founded the Urban Behaviour Lab, a design research practice focused on human-environment relations. He is currently the manager of Urban Design and Heritage, and City Design Champion, at the City of Greater Geelong.

Tava Darakamaran (pictured below right) runs the popular Grimshaw Breakfast series. She has done this for the past four years and has covered impressive and engaging topics by hosting artists, scientists, chefs, film makers, jazz musicians, and various other creatives at Grimshaw’s Gallery stage.

Shall we ever meet again?
And who will meet again?
Meeting is for strangers.
Meeting is for those who do not know each other.
