Waterfront: I’m on a (Port of Melbourne) Boat!

Step on board a catamaran to gain a new perspective of the city and the role this vital infrastructure plays in supporting our growing population and economy.

Melbourne’s port is Australia’s premier container and general cargo port and a vital trade gateway for Victoria, Tasmania and parts of regional NSW and South Australia. Over one third of Australia’s trade moves through Melbourne’s port – that’s over 3000 ships each year and 3 million containers.

The tours feature guided commentary from port staff while you take-in Victoria Dock and Appleton Dock, the port’s more historic facilities, before visiting the container terminals at Swanson Dock. All tours are round-trips, leaving from Victoria Harbour in Docklands.

Presented by Port of Melbourne and Open House Melbourne for Waterfront – part of Melbourne Design Week 2020, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV.
