University of Melbourne Southbank
Located in the heart of Melbourne Arts Precinct, the Southbank campus of The University of Melbourne is home to the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and Victorian College of the Arts.
After years of transformative redevelopment projects across the campus, Open House Melbourne visitors can be amongst the first to see new, world-class spaces come to life.
There will also be a series of panel discussions speakers from Kerstin Thompson Architects and John Wardle Architects, discussing how they approached the challenge of these ambitious, landmark projects.
At The Ian Potter Southbank Centre, visitors can see the six-metre oculus window in action, and enjoy tours and live performances by student musicians from the Conservatorium throughout the building.
Featuring a unique combination of heritage features and cutting-edge design, The Stables (formerly home to the Victorian Police Riding Branch) have been transformed into a visual arts wing including studios, exhibition spaces, and a performance venue housed in the former Riding Hall: the Martyn Myer Arena.
Finally, visitors to the Southbank campus can tour the new home of the largest performing arts and music library collection in Australia: The Hub building, a newly-completed, dynamic space that houses both rare archives and digital technology.
